Objective: To investigate the effect of IBA in different forms of application on the induction and formation of roots in herbaceous mangosteen cuttings Methods: herbaceous mangosteen cuttings were harvested from mother plants aged 10 years, standardized to a size of 10 cm and treated with acid indolebutyric acid (AIB) in slow and fast form (talc and alcoholic solution). After applying the treatments, the cuttings were randomly placed in a nursery with controlled irrigation and lighting and at the end of 60 days the percentage of survival, rooting, callus formation and the number and length of roots were evaluated Results: AIB applied in the slow form responds best at a dose of 200 mg.L-1, while in the fast form the dose of 2000 mg.L-1 has a better effect on rooting, especially in alcoholic solution. Higher doses of IBA (300 and 3000 mg.L-1) did not affect the survival of cuttings, but compromised the induction of rhizogenesis Conclusions: Rapid immersion of cuttings in a solution of 2,000 mg.L-1 of IBA is the most efficient method to promote mangosteen rooting. However, new studies will be carried out to evaluate the influence of the time of year on the harvesting of cuttings in order to clarify the physiological mechanism of the plant's response to exogenous IBA.
