    Resumo

Background: The hair cycle is a complex process influenced by both external and internal factors. Alopecia, characterized by hair loss and strand weakening, results from an imbalance in this cycle. Hair strand replacement occurs independently among hair follicles, yet uniformity is maintained over time. Various elements, such as hormones, cytokines, growth factors, ultraviolet radiation, and nutritional deficiencies, can interfere with the cycle, leading to hair loss. Telogen effluvium alopecia, a common condition characterized by increased hair shedding, has led to a growing demand for effective solutions in the market. Aims: In this context, this work aims to conduct a comprehensive and contextual review on the efficacy of bioactive substances in controlling hair loss and scalp disorders. Methods: This work is characterized as an integrative literature review. Data collection was carried out using databases such as PubMED, SciELO, and Google Scholar. Pertinent keywords such as “Scalp Disorders,” “Alopecia,” and “Hair Health” were employed for this purpose. Results: Through a rigorous analysis of the current scientific literature, the effects of these substances, both individually and in combined formulations, on restoring the balance of the hair cycle and strengthening strands were evaluated. Moreover, gaps in knowledge and promising research areas in the field of alopecia and hair health were identified. Conclusion: As a result, our work provides a solid foundation for future investigations and the development of products that meet the growing needs of those seeking solutions for hair loss and scalp-related issues.
