PROCUREMENT 4.0: MODEL-BASED EVOLUTION

Industry 4.0 demands increasingly digitized processes and an increase in the amount and complexity of data that influence Logistics in all its stages, transforming the way processes will be designed and executed. Procurement will require a more transparent understanding of currently available technologies. This article's motivation for this contribution is to fill the gap between the colossus of Industry 4.0 and the change of standards in the “Procurement 4.0” process. The aim is to investigate Industry 4.0 in order to reveal its impact on Procurement processes and develop a conceptual model for Procurement 4.0. The main dimensions of the model are presented to demonstrate the challenges to be faced and the Procurement trends, with the intervention of Industry 4.0 technologies. This research is based on a bibliographical review, analyzing the contents found and extracted from the literature, focusing on Procurement and where substantial impacts are described as a consequence of the implementation of Industry 4.0. “Procurement 4.0” is considered a revolution in e-procurement. Disruptive innovation will continue to surpass our imagination for the foreseeable future.
