Objective: The objective of this work is to analyze the mechanical properties of the laminated silt and sandstones of the Azángaro formation, for the determination of the stability of a slope located in the locality of Ilave in the Puno region, which has an angle of inclination of 81° and a height of 10m. Methods: In the slope stability analysis, the Mohr-Coulomb rupture criterion was used to determine the most favorable and recommended outcome for the study. The quantitative, explanatory and applicative method was used together with the collection of laboratory analysis data for the determination of resistance Results: The mechanical properties of the soil analyzed: density 1.34 g/cm3, porosity 19.07%, specific gravity 11.27KN/m3; P.I. 5.09%, this being a clay silt of low plasticity; analyzing these data on the slope, a circular break is observed at 4.5m with a minimum F.S. of 0.24 static and 0.123 pseudostatic with coef. 0.21 horizontal and 1.3 vertical. Conclusion: The present work helped the analysis of the stability of slope systems with similar characteristics to the one studied, which are located along a hill at the entrance to the town of Ilave, and the best method to stabilize similar slopes is to profile them at an approximate angle of 70-75°. which have an F.S. of 1.4 -1.7 considered acceptable for the required conditions.
