Objective: To evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of the rock mass in cri-tical areas of the Santa María mine, located in La Rinconada, Puno, during November and December 2024. The research seeks to identify structural discontinuities and characterize the properties of the massif in order to propose adequate support solutions. Methods: Geomechanical evaluations were performed in 20 study Sets using the RMR system and Barton's Q system. The tests included tilt test, point load and uniaxial compression to de-termine the density, porosity and mechanical resistance of the rocks. Results: The results indicated that the massif has a "good" quality according to the RMR system and "modera-te-low" according to the Q system. The physical properties reflected an average density of 2.66 g/cm³, an apparent porosity of 1.77%, and a moisture content limited to 0.678%. Conclusion: The results allow us to identify risk areas and propose sustainability strate-gies that guarantee the structural stability and safety of mining operations. This study con-tributes to the development of safer and more sustainable mining practices.
